Harry’s on Green Lane

Harry’s Wine Bar and Bistro:

Nestled within a leafy boulevard off Bowral’s  upwardly mobile Banyette Street, is an exciting new restaurant and wine bar called Harry’s on Green Lane.   Filled with plant life and exotic travel memorabilia, it honours the intrepid plant hunters of Victorian times.  With walls covered in tea stained, vintage French botanicals, bookcases groaning with books, shelves dripping with devils ivy, and rooms dressed with kentia palms and tree ferns, the atmosphere is a heady mix of jungle meets Indian Summer meets elegant Raffles lounge bar.   Large vintage pics of the plant hunters on expeditions to far and dangerous parts of the world tell the story of how our modern gardens all began.  The new space is a seamless  extension of the lush garden setting outside in The Potting Shed garden centre, and the elegant but twiggy atmosphere of The Orangery next door.   The restaurant is called Harry’s after the renowned English nurseryman and horticulturist, Sir Harry Veitch who dispatched daring plant hunters to foreign lands to find exotic treasures for his wealthy London clientele.
